Who You Are

You are a motivated student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in computer science, analytics, or management information systems and are passionate about tech and establishing team policies and procedures to ensure cohesiveness. You are driven, logical, innovative, and have great attention to detail. You thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can contribute and learn simultaneously.

We are looking for a Technical Writer Intern to join our Summer Internship Program, where you will work both independently and as part of a team, with oversight from your Hiring Manager and the University Relations department. Summer Internships take place from May - August and require a commitment of at least 40 hours per week. With comprehensive training and supervision, you will gain valuable experience applying knowledge acquired in the classroom to real world problems.
What You’ll Do
  • Work closely with the Data teams to ensure data integrity
  • Help Manage and Update our Data Catalog tool (OvalEdgeee)
  • Work cross-functionally with teams across the business and assist in crafting methods and procedural documentation
  • Using Excel and other tools to move large amounts of data into the Data Catalog Repository.
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and capture detailed information to develop Business and technical descriptions for data points.
  • Gain valuable experience by applying knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world application. BHG gives you the space to explore your passions, discover new strengths, and innovate new solutions to help drive our business forward.

What You’ll Need
  • Full-time availability of 40 hours a week
  • Students must have a graduation date between May 2022 and December 2022
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Management Information Systems or another similar field
  • Background knowledge of technical platforms and languages (SQL, Python, Azure Cloud)
  • Experience or ability to learn working with the following tools preferred: Confluence/JIRA, SSIS, Data dictionaries
  • Documenting Stored Procedures, SQL tables, and columns for data lineage and dictionary project
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Attention to detail with a creative eye.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS SharePoint).
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, high level of enthusiasm, integrity, and professionalism
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and analyzing business processes & procedures documentation
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally to communicate the nuts and bolts of a product/process.
  • Write for a variety of audiences, from non-technical end-users to programmers, system administrators, and integrators
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to interpret requests and give quality results in a timely manner
