Who You Are
You are an experienced designer who will work on finding solutions for challenging customer problems using useful, approachable and beautiful design. In this role you are an expert individual contributor that is given a lot of autonomy and trust to work on our most impactful design projects. For this specific role, we're looking for someone who values the following:
Shaping: Defining the experiences with a point of view, where deciding what not to do is as intentional and essential as what makes it into the final solution.
Systems thinking: Our team has to apply decisions holistically, making sure to look at new patterns in context to the larger design system.
Creating together: Getting to the right result is our focus. Facilitating collaboration between teams and individuals is key so that we continue to evolve the needs of the designs alongside the design system.
Progress and tempo: Our team has to be mindful that we keep making decisions, and move forward, quickly. This means prioritizing progress, and valuing the results a fast-paced workflow can bring.
Visuals Design: You should possess strong visual and interface design skills. You have an affinity for consistency, color use, typography is key, and a keen eye for subtle details.
Candidness: We encourage candidness and recognize its role in building trust between IC's and managers or peers. It can take time and effort to get there, but it's worth it.
What You'll Do
  • Design experiences that work across Web and Mobile Web.
  • Become an authority on our visual design language, extending upon our existing systems—such as our color system, typographic rules, and visual design elements.
  • Create a culture of excellence in design quality within the design teams and across the organization. Your work directly influences and evolves BHG’s design system.
  • Propose new areas of work with compelling reasoning, and execute on them.
  • Build meaningful relationships across teams, engineering, and other cross-functional partners you're working with.
What You'll Need
  • 2+ years of experience leading high impact product design or design systems initiatives.
  • At least 7 years of design experience as an individual contributor.
  • Organized and comfortable leading or contributing to multiple design projects.
  • Enthusiasm for an iterative design process, inspired by group critique.
  • Ability to find the highest impact opportunities and iterate on them quickly while things are in motion.
  • Ability to communicate design concepts through polished prototypes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • An excellent on-line portfolio showcasing a very strong visual design sense for web and mobile web.
  • Highly skilled in design tool like Figma, XD, Sketch, Invision and Adobe Suite
  • A deep understanding of design aesthetic and typography is key to success
